 HOW DOES SNAPTM WORK?

Welcome and introduction page
The first screen of the program is a welcome screen which gives the user instructions about what they are being asked to do. In essence, they are asked to input information on their previous day’s physical activity and dietary intake for all of the time that they spent awake.

Dietary intake collection page
To help the user recall if they had eaten some food or had a drink at breakfast time the day before, two illustrated lists of commonly consumed foods and drinks are shown. (The lists were developed from a combination of findings from the National Diet and Nutrition Survey (2000)1 and from previous research into the dietary intake of local children (data unpublished)).

To enhance recall, dietary intake is asked about in a segmented format (Before school; On the way to school; Breakfast club; Lunch time; After school club; Coming home from school; Evening meal; Late evening).
